AROUND 100 of the Castlegregory GAA faithful gathered at Ballyroe Heights Hotel on Saturday night for their annual social.
It’s been a year of highs and lows with the minors providing the silverware, while the senior side suffered the heartbreak of losing a final as Chairman Tom Rohan explained.
“Well, the minors won their division of the county league this year and the central regional league. The seniors got to the final of the junior championship which we unfortunately lost by a point to Listry.”

“Look, we have a lot of young players and we hope to see some good days again like we had in 2010 [when they won the All-Ireland Junior title]. Emigration rocked us over the past number of years but we have some good players coming through so we can push forward over the next few years,” said Tom.
“The underage structure is very good, we’re among the strongest in West Kerry. We won Under 12s in West Kerry, our U16 won a shield competition, we have four or five lads with the Kerry (North) U15 development squad. The schools are strong too with a lot of good footballing people in charge which is good for the parish,” he added.
Colm Cooper was special guest on the night and all enjoyed the meal and music from Ger Mulligan.
“These occasions are good for the community to get together, to talk about the year, the future and to catch up with people,” said Tom. Scroll down for photos…
