CBS The Green school held their annual awards ceremony at The Rose Hotel on Thursday night. It was occasion to appreciate the remarkable achievements and commitment of their students.
Organiser, teacher Karen Tobin, was delighted with the evening. She noted that “this event recognises and celebrates the pupils achievements across the spectrum of education at the CBS. It is special occasion for all the award recipients, parents and families.”
She said the awards presented were very reflective of an Edmund Rice School and of the core values of promoting the personal and social development of all students.

The principal, Anne O’Callaghan, addressed the large crowd of parents and students. Awards were presented for attendance, academics, and top achievers in both junior and leaving cert exams.
Students were recognised for the various accomplishments throughout the school year in the areas of Science, Gaisce, Quizzes, Drama, Sport and Music.
The Edmund Rice Award went to Ciaran Sears. He has displayed resilience, determination and has an innate ability to inspire others.
Karen noted in her speech that Ciaran has a “zest for life and the willingness to overcome his personal challenges is an inspiration to us all. We speak of role models and inspirational characters; well he certainly fills the description. His impact has been immense. Immense because of his optimistic approach to the challenges he faces daily. As a school community we admire this young man for his grit, determination, sense of humour and positive outlook on life”.
Ciaran received a standing ovation on the night such is the regard that is held for him. Scroll down for photos…
