AS they celebrated their 30th anniversary dinner in the Ballygarry House Hotel back in January 2020, little did the folks in the Kerry GAA Supporters Club think they wouldn’t get together again for a social for the next three years.
However, a global pandemic tends to scupper the best laid plans so it was a relief for around 140 of the Kerry GAA faithful that they could gather again at the same venue on Saturday night.
And there was a lot to celebrate! Kerry bridged a gap of eight years to bring Sam home and the canister took pride of place at the social with Chairman of the County Board Pat O’Sullivan, manager Jack O’Connor, players Sean O’Shea, Joe O’Connor and — fresh from his club’s All-Ireland success — David Clifford the special guests on the night.

PRO of the Supporters Club, Martin Leane, said it was good to be back in Ballygarry.
“We’ve been waiting a while alright, but what a way to come back with the Sam Maguire here! A lot of people missed the social as it’s the last meeting before the National League begins. It’s the traditional pre-league build-up.”
Martin also said that a number of great Kerry GAA supporters have passed away since the last social.
“We’ve lost a lot of people over the past three years, like every other parish and club. All of them will be remembered here tonight,” said Martin.
The first away bus trip of the season starts next week with the long journey to Donegal. Leaving next Saturday, it’s an overnight trip costing €130 per person with a limited single supplement available at €150. This includes coach, hotel B&B and evening meal.
Two coaches are heading north and there’s still a few places available. Message them via their Facebook page click here. Scroll down for photos…
