PHOTOS: Celebrating Student Achievement At Coláiste Gleann Lí Annual Awards

THE academic year 2022/2023 was another strong year of growth for Coláiste Gleann Lí post-primary school and this was celebrated on Wednesday morning.

In congratulating the students, the Principal of the school Mr. Liam McGill outlined the great strides the school has made in the area of Science, Technology, Maths, Art and Engineeering (STEAM);

“The student awards Acknowledge all of the accomplishments of students across the year in the area of sport, academics, sustainability, school ethos, school leadership, social Innovation and STEAM.

“This year our STEAM provision has been further enhanced by the opening of two state of the art Science laboratories, preparation room and a recently renovated wood technology room at a cost of nearly half a million euro. The broad range of activities and awards also acknowledge the hard work of staff in ensuring students have opportunities to develop in a holistic environment and one where they are given opportunities to reach their fullest potential. Congratulations to all our award winners”.

On opening the event, Deputy Principal Mr. Paudie Fleming explained that the award ceremony celebrates the school’s academic successes but also celebrates the varied achievements of Coláiste Gleann Lí second level students in a variety of areas such as sport, STEAM, community-led involvement and environmental issues.

He added that the annual Coláiste Gleann Lí awards reflect school policy which strives for the holistic development of each student in line with the core values and ethos of Kerry Education and Training Board.

The Awards Ceremony illustrated a variety of extra-curricular achievements by students of the school which were highlighted at the event.

As the proceedings got underway, multiple students were commended for their efforts throughout the school year.  The following is a cross-section of the Coláiste Gleann Lí awards and recipients:
