THE weather didn’t play ball for the walkers in Blennerville  taking part in the annual Tony O’Donoghue Memorial Walk on Saturday evening, but their efforts raised €1,900 for a great cause.

Around 100 walkers set off from the Windmill but were soaked thanks to ‘horizontal’ rain showers while they made their way over the bridge, up to the lock gates and down via Lohercannon back to the Windmill.

The walk remembers Tony, a great stalwart of St Pat’s GAA Club who passed away in September of 2014 and is organised by his daughter Andrea. All proceeds from the walk went to the Palliative Care Unit at UHK and participants dug deep for the cause.

It was a good turnout considering the poor weather and many who took part dried off in Skelper Quane’s where there was food and entertainment laid on and a great time was had by all. Scroll down for photos…
