IN the end, the weather kept its promise and the rain stayed away on Friday night, thus leaving everyone else to enjoy the much anticipated culture night taking place all around the town.
One of the biggest draws of the night was the special open air cinema which was showing the screening of everyone’s favourite farm animal in Shaun The Sheep.
The crowds started to arrive early on as they looked to get the best seats in the house, with most families looking incredibly well prepared with blankets, insect repellent and a few buckets of popcorn on show throughout.
There was a great hush as the screen lit up with the ‘Shaun The Sheep’ title as everyone rushed back from playing with the balloons on offer and sat down to enjoy the film and a great culture night.
The story was much the same over in the Abbey Inn where a series of poetry/story and music performances drew great support and a great, with some exceptionally talented pieces read out on the night.
This intimate performance was organised by the Thursday Night Writers Tralee Group and judging by the steadily increasing rounds of applause and laughs throughout the evening, the group can hold their head up high after such a success.
With many other events all over town, the 10th Culture Night is going from strength to strength.
