Over 800 athletes from all corners of Ireland and Europe descended on Dingle and its  Peninsula for the epic Dingle Adventure Race 2017.

The wild and windy weather played havoc with the Kayaking section, as heavy cloud and mist descended for the day, the wind was wild on the Atlantic Way, even that didn’t deter the athletes on Mount Brandon or Mt Eagle.

The very successful one day Multi Activity Adventure Race consisted of 3 Courses DAR Full, DAR Sport & DAR Mini, Biking over the spectacular Conor Pass, Climbing Mount Brandon, running the coastal windy roads of Slea head,  Ceánn Cibéal,  Dún Chaoin, Mount Eagle, and along the iconic Dingle Peninsula.

The race, established by Noel O’Leary of Irish Adventures, said; “The Race challenges competitors to run, hike and cycle their way across the Dingle Peninsula. The atmosphere is always fantastic, a real fun event, with plenty of banter and camaraderie. As alway I am truly grateful  to all the volunteers and generous sponsorship of local Kerry business’s in making the Dingle Adventure Race a great success and the best Adventure Race in the Country”.

The winner of the Full DAR event for the second time in a row was  Killian Heery from Cavan, with an amazing time of 2 hours, 44 minutes, 21 seconds, knocking almost ten minutes off his 2016 record.

First home in the DAR Full Ladies was, experienced Adventurist Moire O’Sullivan, in a time of 03:03:32 .
