IF you’re from the Mitchels area, or anywhere else in town for that matter, a visit to an exhibition at Tralee Library will provide you with a treasure trove of local history and great old photographs.
The Mitchels Boherbee Historical & Heritage Group have put together the exhibition which was launched by Mayor of Tralee, Graham Spring, on Thursday evening.
The group has been going since 2004 and has been producing an annual calendar since 2009 and has also made CDs with stories from times past. Included in the exhibition are maps of the area dating back to the 1930s and montages of the photos from each year of the calendar.]

“It’s a great collection for the people of the area, who can come here for the next couple of weeks and look at the maps and photos and leave with a smile on their face,” said Mayor Spring, who grew up in the Castlemorris area and played football for John Mitchels GAA Club.
He commended the group for their work over the years and thanked Tralee Library for hosting the exhibition.
The launch also saw a presentation made to the family of Tommy O’Connor who passed away a few years ago. Tommy was a founder member of the group who did sterling work over the years in putting together the projects. Scroll down for photos..
