THERE were smiles and laughs all round on Friday as crowds of families enjoyed the first day of the festival.
It was a great day out in the sun at Family Town which is set up in the town park and will run over the next four days.
With giant benches, sandboxes, face painting and bouncy castles and slides galore, it was never going to be a dull day out as the kids and parents made their way through the various attractions on offer or sat down for breather enjoying some sustenance from the food outlets.
From 2pm and 4pm the piece de resistance made its way to the stage, as crowds gathered to watch the highly entertaining and energetic musical performance from the cheerful family town fairies and the somewhat grumpy park ranger.
It was certainly a performance that had the kids (and adults!) breaking out into song, dance and laughter and put the cherry on the cake of a great day out for all.
