A FASHION fundraiser was held in Ardfert on Friday night in aid of an Irish charity building and refurbishing schools in the townships in South Africa.
Pauline Barrett organised the event in Bamboo Boutique where visitors paid an entry fee and enjoyed food and browsed through the fashions in the store, with a percentage of any sales going to the Mellon Educate charity.
Pauline has travelled to South Africa with the charity on seven occasions and this November, she said, will be her last trip.
“We don’t just fundraise to buy the equipment but we also physically, build and paint and help the professionals who also travel to the townships,” said Pauline.
Each volunteer has to raise €4,000 before heading off, so Pauline is busy trying to raise more funds.
“It’s a great cause and some of the best friends I have made, have been through the trip,” she said.
