THE residents of Fatima Nursing Home went back to school for a day on Monday as part of a partnership with CBS Primary.

The Nursing Home has enjoyed a fabulous relationship with CBS Primary school through the Seanóige Club.

This Intergenerational Project involved weekly visits from 4th Class pupils to the Nursing Home, where they took part in various activities with the residents.

To mark National Nursing Home week, the school invited the residents to join them in the school hall for a celebratory concert.

A variety of children from various classes performed songs, dances and recited poetry to entertain the residents. The 6th Class children provided the finale for the concert with a beautiful rendition of Stand By Me.

When the concert had concluded, the Parent’s Association provided refreshments for the residents, who then enjoyed a chat with the children.

Helen Barrett, events co-ordinator at Fatima, spoke of the impact the morning had on the residents; “They enjoyed every minute of their morning. It will be a memory they will treasure for a long time to come. Some of our residents don’t get many opportunities to meet children, and that makes this even more special for them. It was wonderful to see so much talent on display, and to give the children an opportunity to share their energy and enthusiasm with the residents. This project has been one of the highlights of the year for us, and we hope to continue the partnership we have established with CBS in to the future”. Scroll down for photos…
