THE inaugural Rose Bowl ran by the Kerry Schoolboys Girls League at Mounthawk Park and Tralee Dynamos was a huge success.

Organised in association with the International Rose of Tralee Committee and sponsored by Trophy World, nine Inter League teams played 23 games in front of a huge crowd.

In the end, Clare defeated Limerick Desmond on penalties in the first semi-final and Galway just got past MGL (Dublin) North. The final was another thriller with Clare winning after a sudden death penalty shoot-out.

Kerry were represented by two squads with Kerry Green just pipped for second place in their Group, while Kerry Gold ended their Group on a high, defeating West Cork 3-0.

The girls were delighted with the visit by some of the Roses and the Bowl and trophies were presented by John Drummey and Alan Cantwell on behalf of the Rose Committee and Bernard ‘Pop’ Lynch on behalf of the sponsors.

Plans by the KSLBL, the KDL and the Rose Committee for next year will being shortly as the Rose Bowl is a tournament that has huge potential.
