PHOTOS: Foodie Destination Judges Sample Cuisine From Tralee Businesses

TWO judges from the Foodie Destinations 2019 Awards were in Tralee this morning for a tour of food businesses and to sample some wonderful cuisine.

Tralee is one of the nine finalists vying for the title this year and part of deciding the winner is a public vote and people can vote as often as they like for the town on www.foodiedestinations.ie until Thursday, August 22. The winner of Foodie Destinations 2019 will be announced at the end of August.

The judges were treated to a range of different dishes at the Tralee Chamber Alliance marquee in the Square this morning, coinciding with the Thursday markets.

Mozarts, Tamarind Restaurant, Denny Lane, Manor West Hotel, Cassidys and Yummy Cafe were among those displaying their dishes which included, curries, sushi, steak, rack of lamb and much more. The free samples were also available to the public who really enjoyed the feast on offer.

“They’ll be taking a three-hour tour of the town, visiting a variety of locations,” said Ken Tobin, Managing Consultant with Tralee Chamber Alliance. “They’ll see restaurants, talk to local artisan food producers and will also visit the Community Garden in Tralee Town Park.”

Foodie Destinations, is an initiative run by the Restaurants Association of Ireland, that aims to find the ultimate foodie destination in Ireland.

It celebrates Ireland’s unique and wonderful food offerings and encourages local food tourism initiatives across the country. Scroll down for photos…
