OVER 140 students braved the wintry showers and flying paint at IT Tralee yesterday for a fun 5k colour run/walk to encourage people to get more active.
The lunchtime event saw students take to the road running and walking between both the north and south campuses. Afterwards there was mince pies and refreshments in the South Campus canteen.
Aileen Kennedy of the ‘Live ITT’ health promotion project at the college, which held the event in conjunction with the Students Union, was delighted with the day.
“It was for staff and students to encourage them to get up, walk, run and get active as part of the Live ITT project. It was great fun and we merged the north and south campuses by having starts at both campuses. It’s part of the overall health initiative in the college to get people more active,” said Aileen.
“We try to positive mental and physical health all year round and Christmas is no different so this year we teamed up Live ITT for the fun run,” said Jessica Murphy, Vice-President for Welfare in the Students Union. “It’s a great way to get people moving and have fun at the same time,” she added.
