THE rain and wind came but hundreds still braved to elements for the St Patrick’s Day parade in Tralee.

Beginning soon after 12 noon, the hundreds of participants were led by Grand Marshall, Rick Leonard, who arrived in Mayor Terry O’Brien’s vehicle and took his place in the shelter of the stand.

The bands, clubs, societies, businesses and community groups made their way down from John Joe Sheehy Road, through Boherbee and on to Castle Street before finishing on Ashe Street, due to the roadworks on Denny Street.

There was colour and great community spirit evident and MC Mike O’Donnell kept the crowd informed of what was going on while dignitaries watched from a stand outside the AIB Bank on Castle Street.

The parade finished earlier than usual due to the weather to leave families to head for shelter and enjoy the St Patrick’s Day festivities. Here’s some images from the day (we’ll have loads more tomorrow)
