The week hopes to promote, awareness, appreciation and understanding of maths through a huge variety of events and activities.

Other TY groups distributed maths puzzles so there was a great buzz during break times, with much lively discussions and a competitive atmosphere as solutions were sought.

On Tuesday there was a special Tráth na gceist Mata held for 1st and 2nd years only with cryptic questions such as how many sides does a teapot have or how does the farmer transfer a fox, a carrot and a rabbit over the river taking one at the time without they eating each other.

By Thursday the momentum was building to the very important PRISM competition which 3rd and 6th year honours maths students participated in. The school participates in PRISM every year run by NUIG Galway.

The week’s activities revealed to students and staff alike, the role which maths plays in our daily lives.
