GAELSCOIL Mhic Easmainn national school welcomed in parents on Wednesday morning for their open day.
Parents of prospective pupils were given a tour and were able to ask questions about the benefits of sending their children to an Irish language school.
Providing entertainment were the school choir, along with junior classes who began last September, plus young musicians to knock out a few tunes.
“We explained to the parents that when children come here they are immersed in the Irish language from day one,” said Cáit Uí Chonchubhair, Principal of Gaelscoil Mhic Easmainn.
“Within a couple of weeks children have full comprehension of Irish and within a couple of months they are fluent in the language and they learn it in a fun way. I think a lot of parents are disappointed they don’t have speak Irish themselves and they don’t want their kids to fall into the same situation,” said the principal.
