THERE mustn’t have been a soul left in Churchill last night, such was the huge crowd in the Ballyroe Heights Hotel for the GAA club’s inaugural ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ event.
Around 500 people were treated to a fantastic night of entertainment as the 11 couples danced the night away with Alison Nulty proving a great MC.
Jackie O’Mahoney had been putting the dancers through their paces for the past few months and all those rehearsals paid off with some stunning performances.
There has to be a winner though and Ivan Parker and Katie McCarthy were deemed the best by judges Martin Ferris, Sharon Phelan, Darragh Ó Sé and John Scroope. The winners of the popular vote were Eileen Moran and Gary Dillon.
The 11 couples taking part were; Sheila Fitzgerald and Fr Eamonn Mulvihill; Rachel Brassil and Jeremy Walsh; Joanne Crowley and Brendan Kelly; Katie McCarthy and James Allman; Sinead Cotter and Johnny Clifford; Niall Ó Loingsigh and Juliette Rolls; Catherine Walsh and Michael O’Brien; Katie McCarthy and Ivan Parker; Veronica Kelly and JJ Prior; Eileen Moran and Gary Dillon; Susan Farrelly and John Carmody.
