THERE was some craic in Benners on Saturday night as eight performers went to war in aid of a great cause in front of a great crowd of supporters.
‘Mime Wars’ was organised by the ‘Glow Hearts 4 Crumlin’ group of Kerry ladies and pitted the ‘singers’ against each other to see who would be the most entertaining with all funds raised are going to Crumlin’s Children’s Heart Centre.
The whole Lip Syncing phenomenon became popular in the last year or so after a segment on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ and has spawned a hit TV series where celebrities battle against each other by Lip Syncing well-known songs.
The MCs on the night were well-known beauty expert Mary O’Donnell and Martin Guilfoyle of Spin Southwest, while the judges were Kerry TDs Martin Ferris and Michael Healy Rae and Leonard Foley.
Well the contestants didn’t disappoint but in the end there had to be winners and Padraig O’Mahony was deemed the most convincing lip-synced by the audience while the judges winner was Joanna Conlon.
Glow Hearts 4 Crumlin are a group of Kerry mothers who all have children who have had open heart surgery at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin. They have organised numerous fundraising events in the past in an effort to give back to the hospital which has helped their children. Scroll down for photos…
