THE elaborate costumes, the excitement of dressing up and the giddiness of finding out the weather alert would ensure a four day weekend, created a fantastic atmosphere at Presentation Secondary School on Wednesday…and that was just among the teachers!

Students took some artistic licence by including The Simpsons and those renowned literary giants the Kardashians in the mix, but characters from the minds of F Scott Fitzgerald, Lewis Carroll and George RR Martin were to the fore.
Staff also got in on the act with Tom Crean, Star Wars and the Rose Of Tralee-inspired get-ups paraded in the assembly area. Prizes galore were presented on the day for the most inventive costumes.
The theme of this year’ Love Literature week was ‘A Day out Of Kerry Is a Day Wasted’ a salute to the wise observation of the late Padraig Kennelly of Kerry’s Eye.
A myriad of sizzling, spectacular and sensational Kerry themed events were organised for each year group including workshops with celebrated poet Gabriel Fitzmaurice and acclaimed international novelist Rósín Meaney.
Students also showcased their literary prowess in a variety of writing competitions including – Six Word Stories, Black Out Poetry and Short Stories to name but a few. A novel event this year is Poetry In The Poly Tunnel a lunchtime literary experience hosted by third year students.
Sadly, the weather put paid to Thursday and Friday’s events but it was still a wonderful week at Presentation. Scroll down for photos…
