PEOPLE from all over the county donned a tie on Friday for a special fundraiser in aid of Kerry Mental Health Association.
The first ‘Tie Day Friday’ saw Kerry men, women and children everywhere wearing a tie and posting a picture or video on social media while also making a donation.
“There was great support from schools and businesses across Kerry, ex-pats in Dublin, New York and London, local gardaí, Champion Jockey Oisin Murphy and fashion experts Paul Galvin, Don O’Neill and Orla Diffily to name but a few,” said John Drummey, General Manager of Kerry Mental Health Association.

“Many schools kindly agreed to waive their rules to allow pupils to wear a different tie with their uniforms.”
“The generous nature of Kerry people everywhere was evident once again through the donations in support of the befriending activities of the nine Kerry Mental Association Branches in the county,” he added.
The nine branches pursue befriending and support activities to enrich the lives of neighbours and friends in our communities who are living with mental health challenges.
Their fundraising and befriending activities were seriously curtailed by Covid-19 and the branches were unable to hold any annual church gate collections or flag day events for over a year, hence yesterday’s fundraiser.
Donations are still welcome through www.KerryMentalHealth.ie/donate. The event was proudly supported by Celsius Menswear, Castle Street, Tralee.
Gardaí enforced draconian lockdown measures that harmed the mental heath of the public and yet get involved to virtue signal for a special fundraiser in aid of Kerry Mental Health Association!
Hypocrisy.
