THERE was great support for a table quiz last night in the Na Gaeil GAA Clubhouse, to help out an orphanage founded by a Tralee woman.
The annual table quiz in aid of the Tír na nÓg orphanage in Tanzania was contested by 14 tables and much needed funds were raised.
The orphanage was set up Tralee woman Louise Quill 12 years ago to provide care for orphaned and abandoned children in the Kilimanjaro region.
Louise and her husband Derek, who organised the quiz, thanked all who contributed in any way. Louise explained where they are at the moment as regards the orphanage.

“We’re going out next Sunday to make a documentary with a crew for 10 days, to tell the story of the orphanage and how it has developed over the past 12 years. We also need to buy things for the children like schoolbooks, uniforms etc and we’ll be taking them on a day out,” said Louise.
“We need to move out of the current building there because we have around 60 children now and the existing building can only accommodate 25. We need between €500,000 and €1,000,000 for a new centre. The aim is to get the documentary aired on national TV and raise awareness for our efforts to raise the funds for the building.” Scroll down for photos…
