THE high tide yesterday evening caused sea levels at the entrance of the canal to rise right to the edge and over the lock gates.

It was all because of the supermoon phenomenon which occurs when the moon is closest to the Earth, meaning the moon appears much brighter and larger than usual.

Yesterday was the last supermoon full moon of the year, but high tides are expected for Wednesday and Thursday. High tide in Fenit today is 4:34.

While the canal was filling up yesterday, a visitor made his way right down to the Marina. The unusual sight of a baby seal caught the eye of many people who walk or drove past, including Revathi Nukala who sent us this photo (below) he took yesterday.

The seal seems to be posing for the shot!
