A WONDERFUL family atmosphere was created on Denny Street as many hundreds turned out for the fireworks display on New Year’s Eve.

Brian Hurley got the party going playing music to the masses who had gathered for the annual event as families bade an early farewell to 2022 as the display took place at 7pm.

Unfortunately, things didn’t go according to plan, but no-one but Mother Nature was to blame. There was thick fog early on in the night and many who watched from Denny Street couldn’t see the explosions of colour.

Nevertheless, people still had a good time before heading off to ring in the new year at home, in the pubs or at the many parties around town. Scroll down for photos…

  1. Should have been postponed to today….New years day, because of the weather.
It was a complete waste of money setting off a firework show in thick dense fog.
The organisers did not care as long as they got paid.
Sad that no common sense prevails.
Nobody would have minded waiting 24 hours and a party atmosphere could have taken place.
Everyone was disappointed including the adults.
