OVER 300 people attended a sold out conference on Child Trauma and Neglect, Impact, Assessment and Therapeutic Intervention addressed by the renowned Dr Bruce Perry.
Organised by the Expressive Play centre in Kilflynn, the event in the Rose Hotel on Friday was for anyone working with children and adults. People travelled from far and wide to hear Dr Perry – a Senior Fellow of The Child Trauma Academy, in Houston, Texas – talk and share his expertise about trauma and healing.

Dr Bruce Perry is one of the world’s leading experts on neurobiology and trauma and his research has examined the cognitive, behavioral, emotional, social and physiological effects of neglect and trauma in children.
The day long conference focussed on a number of topics including; how how experience impacts on brain development, how adversity, trauma and maltreatment impact upon the brain, implications of working with traumatised children, strategies for working with children whose development has been compromised by trauma, the neurobiological power of play, Neurosequential approach, therapeutic interventions for children and self care and self regulation.
