THERE was a remarkable turnout on Sunday morning for the Kerins O’Rahillys 10K/5K Run from the clubhouse on Strand Road.
Around 400 people of all ages took part in the event held in memory of Marie Nix who sadly passed away in November 2020.
It was one of the first runs to take place since the lifting of restrictions, so runners came from all over the county to take part and luckily for them, conditions were excellent.

It was also a great community occasion with families from the local area gathering together, a fact acknowledged by Race Director Frank O’Connor who was delighted with the level of participation.
“It’s been absolutely fantastic, we’ve even got some people registered who aren’t even running the event, they just wanted to be part of it and they all spoke so fondly of Marie,” he said.
“I’m actually not surprised at the crowd, considering the lady we are honouring and the high level of esteem she was held in by so many,” added Frank. Well done to all involved.
