AUSTIN Stacks GAA grounds at Connolly Park was a busy spot on Monday morning as the club hosted the fourth ‘Run For The Rock’ in memory of the late Paul Lucey.
Around 300 participants of all ages made their way around the 5k and 10k routes and thankfully the weather stayed dry to make the runs more enjoyable.
The aim of the run is to promote a fit, healthy lifestyle and positivity within the community, especially after the pandemic when people couldn’t come together.

The run started in 2018 as a tribute to Paul Lucey, a proud Austin Stacks man who passed away in December 2017.
His son Niall was once again delighted with the turnout and the atmosphere the run generated on Monday morning.
“We’re absolutely thrilled as it’s a community event that goes beyond football in the club. It’s about lifestyle, community and just having fun,” he said.
Everyone observed a minute’s silence before the run as a tribute to the late Joe Hanley who passed away on Friday. Joe, who passed away on Friday, took hundreds of photos at the Austin Stacks club down the years.
“Joe was a great friend to the run and the club down the years. The minute’s silence was respectfully observed, followed by spontaneous applause from all present. We’ll miss Joe,” said Niall. Scroll down for photos…
