IT Tralee hosted an event aimed at getting staff and students in IT Tralee together and moving in the ‘Tri and Move ITT’ on Wednesday evening.
It was a combination of two events, a 5km individual/family fun walk/run and a fun team triathlon.
The triathlon consisted of a 5km run followed by a 10km cycle and finishes with a 500m swim (20 lengths at the Tralee Sports Complex).
The event was a great success – 36 teams of three participated in the team triathlon and a total of 150 participants were involved. A big congratulations to the winning team comprised of staff members and a student, Trevor Dunne, John Pierce and Jarlath Bell.

This event was one of a broad range of proactive student and staff focused health promotion activities under the LIVE ITT Project aimed at supporting, empowering and motivating all, in particular students, to make informed positive lifestyle choices that will support their wellbeing and enable them to flourish in third level.
LIVE ITT, IT Tralee’s pilot health promotion project will build on the work already achieved through the sipITT project, which began in 2013, which focused on reducing the levels of dangerous drinking and the associated harms and promoting general student wellbeing.
The project was launched last year at the Tri and Move ITT event and has had a busy year to date, including offering a free Massage Clinic, a series of Health and Wellbeing talks with Dr. Ailish Brosnan and a Christmas Colour Run. Scroll down for photos…
