NEARLY 200 students received qualifications at the Kerry Education and Training Board Presentation of Certificates ceremony at the Rose Hotel on Wednesday.
Awards were presented for 30 different courses in 10 categories, completed both as full-time day courses and part-time evening course delivery with special guest, Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh delivering an inspirational address to those present.
There was a mixture of major awards, special purpose awards and minor awards in 10 categories, which were; Information Technology and Graphic Design; Business Enterprise and Office Administration; Engineering, Manufacturing and Construction; Care Skills, Childcare and Health Studies; Beauty Therapy and Personal Development; Culture, History and Social Studies; Communications and Media; Catering and Hospitality; Science, Green Technologies and Natural Environment and Leisure and Sport.
There were three recipients of the Kerry ETB Training Centre Achievement Awards.
They were Ms Darragh O’Sullivan, who was the overall winner in the skill of Beauty Therapy in the Worldskills Ireland National Skills Competition for 2016; Gary Horgan, who was awarded Ireland Skills National Competition 2016 in Heavy Vehicle Mechanics and Daniel Kearney, overall winner of the Further Education Learner of the Year Award 2016 and was awarded the City and Guilds Global Gold Medal of Excellence.
