THE countdown is really on now to selecting the new Kerry Rose to represent the county at this year’s Rose Of Tralee International Festival.
As is traditional for the past number of years, many of the Kerry Roses gathered at Kingdom Greyhound Stadium for some photos and a night of racing.
There are 24 ladies from all over the county confirmed to take part this year and most of them were at the stadium on Friday night.

The ladies will be attending the Kingdom County Fair on this Sunday and afterwards will enjoy afternoon tea in The Ashe Hotel.
On Saturday, May 14 they’ll head off on the Kerry Rose Tour and finally it’ll be decision time for judges in Siamsa Tire on Saturday, June 4, when Daithí Ó Sé interviews the ladies onstage during selection night. Scroll down for photos…

I am disgusted that this event was held and included the promotion of greyhound racing. Ireland is to greyhound racing what Spain is to bullfighting, and China and South Korea is to dog and cats slaughter. That is the company you are in! Shame on you for your ignorance and lame excuses of why this horror should continue. Thank you to the brave people who speak out and try to get people to see that these sickening events put a stain on their country.
How about some photos of the lovely dogs which are killed every year in the name of sport at this track. Very surprised to see young people promoting an outdated method of cruelty.
Greyhound racing is an absolute disgrace. Promoting the exploitation of these defensive animals for peoples entertainment! Abuse and murder is wrong. Shame on everyone who is a part of this!
