A LIMERICK Lady in Red won the top prize of €3,000 for Best Dressed Lady at the McElligotts Honda Ladies Day at Listowel Races today.

Judged by model Alison Canavan and former TV apprentice, Brian Purcell, there was a total cash prize fund of €5,750.

Best Dressed Lady Bríd Hayes from Ballyhahill, County Limerickwas wearing a red and white knee length 50’s style dress from ASOS and a headpiece by Listowel based milliner, Aoife Hannon.

Bríd is getting married next May, so intends to use the prize towards creating her dream wedding. She received a cheque for €3,000 from sponsors Patrick McElligott, MD, McElligotts Tralee and John Saunders, Marketing Director, Honda Ireland.

First runner up was Annmarie Blennerhassett, originally from Tralee, now living in Dublin. Annmarie was wearing a cream Heidi Higgins dress and forest green headpiece by milliner, Carol Kennelly.

She received a cheque for €1,000 which she intends to use towards decorating a new room in her home in Ranelagh.

Second runner up was Geraldine Walsh, from Kinsale, County Cork. Wearing a two piece mint shift dress with matching jacket, and headpiece by Celestine McCoy, Kinsale, Geraldine received a cheque for €500.

The winner of the McElligotts Honda Jazziest Headpiece was Brenda O’Brien, from Milltown. Her headpiece was made by her sister Nicole O’Brien. Brenda co owns a hair dressing business, Ruby, in Killarney. She received a prize of €500.

The winner of the McElligotts Honda Best Dressed Couple was Gillian and Eamonn Gilbourne from Cork. They received a luxury weekend away in Carton House, Dublin.

The winner of the Listowel Races Most Glamorous Young Racer, sponsored by Listowel Race Course, was Nicola Sheahan (16), from Tarbert, County Kerry.

She was wearing a top from Swamp and a skirt made by her mom. She received a prize of €500. First runner up in the Listowel Races Most Glamorous Racer was Elizabeth Mulvihall, who received a prize of €250.

Huge crowds attended Ladies Day, and the sun made frequent appearances adding to the festival ambiance during a warm afternoon.

Tomorrow there is another, alternative best dressed competition, with the Listowel Tidy Town / An Taisce Best Vintage / Up-cycled Outfit judged by Orlagh Winters. For more information visit listowelraces.ie.
