FIVE fantastic performances were enjoyed by audiences in Siamsa Tíre over the past few days, as the Bryan Carr School of Performing Arts brought ‘Matilda The Musical Jr.’ to the stage.
Based on the Roald Dahl novel, the musical adaptation ran from Wednesday to Friday featuring about 120 children who saw their hard work pay off in spades with wonderful performances all round.
“We had five performances and they were pretty much all sold out which was fantastic. It’s testament to the fact that live theatre is back,” said Bryan Carr.

“I think the last time they had a sold-out show here — at full capacity — it was pre-COVID. I want to thank Siamsa for promoting and supporting the arts in the county and the people of Tralee too. People involved in the arts have been really under the cosh over the past two years, so it’s great to see people putting bums on seats,” he added.
Bryan had special praise for the children who put in such hard work to make the show so special.
“I don’t know where they find the energy. They just shone over the past few nights and the work they have put in paid off when they come out to a full house. It means an awful lot to them, they’re buzzing,” said Bryan. Scroll down for photos…
