There were four former Leaving Cert students — Ronan Moore, Ben Kavanagh, Thomas Curran and Ciara McCarthy — and six former Junior Certs — Timothy Grimes, Liam O’Brien, Michael Moynihan, Charlotte O’Halloran, Mairead Kearney and Diana Meriakri — honoured by the school.

Ben, who is now in a Film Studies course in UCC has received the €50,000 Quercus Creative Scholarship for performing arts, while Ronan Moore has received a JP McManus Scholarship for Aeronautical Engineering in UL. Thomas Curran is studying Chemistry in UCC while Ciara McCarthy — who was unable to make the awards presentation — is studying music in UCC.

Principal John O’Roarke welcomed the students and their families to the school and commended the award winners for their achievements.

He said having a natural gift or talent is one thing, but to have the emotional intelligence — the discipline and willpower — to deliver on it is something each of them should treasure.

He also praised their parents and families for giving them support and encouragement to achieve their goals and the teachers who helped nurture their talents.

Mr O’Roarke wished the four who have left the school the best in their future studies and careers and to those who are still in the school, he hoped they would capitalise on the potential her have shown. Scroll down for photos…
