PHOTOS: Mercy Mounthawk Hosts Tournament To Promote Basketball In Primary Schools

TEAMS from primary schools around Tralee and beyond gathered in Mercy Mounthawk gym on Monday for a tournament aimed at promoting the game of basketball.

The sport is enjoying a resurgence in popularity over the past few years thanks to the achievements of Garvey’s Tralee Warriors, so the organisers feel it is important to get youngsters into the basketball from an early age in the schools.

Teams from Scoil Eoin, Holy Family, Currow NS, St Brendan’s Blennerville NS, Moyderwell, Gaelscoil Mhic Easmainn and CBS Primary took part on the night in both a Plate and Cup competition.

Holy Family and Moyderwell contested the Plate final with Holy Family emerging victorious. The Cup final saw Scoil Eoin face visitors Currow NS, with the Tralee side lifting the cup on an enjoyable evening for all. Scroll down for photos…
