THERE were laughs and no small amount of great memories recalled at a reunion in Cassidy’s Restaurant on Monday night.
Over 20 girls from the Moyderwell Secondary School ‘Class of 1985’ met up again to share stories, catch up on how their lives and careers have developed and talk about boys no doubt (we know what you girls are like!).

Martina Ryan Murphy was one of the ladies behind the night.
“Many of us had been together since babies in primary school, some then came in from the country schools so we all ended up in ‘Eoin’ or ‘Mhuire’ – they were the two classes,” Martina told us when we called in at the start of the night.
“So we decided to have a 30th reunion. I was here one night with Geraldine McElligott – who owns Cassidy’s here – and Delia Daly and we said ‘why don’t we organise a get-together?’ That was about a month ago and there’s been texts and Facebook messages since. We got a fantastic response. Most of the girls here are from Tralee. There’s one girl here I haven’t seen since we finished 30 years ago and I didn’t recognise her when I saw her,” said Martina.
“Two of our girls here tonight are now the Principal and Vice-Principal of Presentation Secondary School – Mary O’Keeffe and Chrissie Kelly (nee Lee). Moyderwell secondary is gone but there’s a great love for the school. I’m the fifth generation of my family that went to the school,” said Martina.
It was a great night of fun, laughter and stories and no doubt plans were made to repeat the night for a 40th.
