IT was a hot morning for a cycle on Wednesday as some of the pupils at Moyderwell Mercy ended the school year with a cycle to Mounthawk via the ‘Skinny Mile’.

It was all part of the Green Schools Project running at the school to encourage more environmentally-friendly and active travel.

Teachers Patricia O’Connor, Paul Culhane and Aisling Uí Laighin have been co-ordinating the programme with pupils in the school in their aim to secure the green travel flag next year.

The school has already received a Travel Maintenance Award for a number of initiatives such as the ‘Park and Stride’ and WOW (Walk On Wednesdays) days to encourage ‘green travel’.

The pupils set off from the school to the greenway entrance at Rock Street, out to Bracker O’Regan Road and back accompanied by teachers and Garda Seamus Moriarty. Scroll down for photos…
