MOYDERWELL school received a visit from the Mayor of Tralee as they showed their work as part of the Blue Star Programme in the school hall.

The Blue Star programme is educational initiative from the Deptartment of European Affairs which aims to encourage primary school children to learn about the EU from a historical, geographical, cultural and institutional perspective.

Ms. Fuller’s 6th class organised the project and put in huge effort into individual projects on the EU countries as well as creating games for the pupils of the school to take part in on their chosen day to celebrate all things European.

All classes in the school undertook a project on their chosen country and displayed them throughout the school. Flags of the EU countries coloured in by the pupils decorated the corridors of the school. Many children made wonderful 3D creations of famous European landmarks.

Meanwhile, the school also celebrated the achievements of young athletes. Their two Sixth Class 100m relay teams won gold at the recent Tralee Area Primary Schools Athletics meeting. Scroll down for photos…
