YOU can’t beat Munster final day in Killarney…especially when it’s Kerry against Cork!
With over 30,000 people converging on town for the occasion, it created a very special atmosphere with great colour splashed in the stands and terraces of Fitzgerald Stadium.
The weather gods were kind too and when rain threatened during half-time, a collective stare upwards from the masses was a sort of ‘don’t even think about it!’ gesture that worked, as suddenly the sun broke through again.

The minors’ victory was a fine start to the afternoon for Kerry fans and when the seniors sped away early in the second half, the five in a row was assured. There was no electric atmosphere of the 2015 thriller, but I’m not complaining!
One annoying aspect to the occasion this year though was the traffic from the Tralee side, which was the worst I can remember.
Traffic was backed up to Brennan’s Glen by 11am which was unprecedented in my experience. It took 90 minutes for me to get from Tralee to parking close to the turnoff to Kilcummin, just outside Killarney. When I was heading home the cars were parked as far out as Kathleen’s Country House.
That trip home was a happy one though, looking forward to a date in late July up at headquarters. Here’s some images from the match…
