FOR the third year in a row, Dick and Eibhlín Henggeler welcomed guests to The Rose Hotel last night for a sumptuous Thanksgiving feast.
The owners of the hotel wanted to bring their Thanksgiving tradition to Tralee it has proved massively popular, with the €32.50 tickets selling out many months in advance.
Many of Eibhlín’s family from Killarney were among the 200 guests attending as well as many locals and former Rose of Tralee, Maria Walsh. They were welcomed with a traditional hot punch in the foyer where the Henggelers greeted all and wished them a happy Thanksgiving.

Screens were erected showing the famous Macy’s Parade in New York and the traditional American Football game, while messages from the Henggelers and staff from the hotel telling what they are thankful for were also shown.
The meal itself featured a starter of harvest salad of poached pear, followed by roast crown of turkey and stuffed leg, along with Frank’s Thanksgiving sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, maple glazed carrots, Swiss corn bake, creamy mash potato and turkey gravy.
Traditional Thanksgiving desserts will include pumpkin pie, pecan pie with ice cream followed by tea/coffee.
It was thoroughly enjoyed by all, many of whom were probably booking for next year before it’s sold out. Scroll down for photos…
