SOME enterprising Transition Year students in Presentation Secondary School pitched their projects in a ‘Dragons Den’-type event in the school on Monday.

It was all to prepare for the upcoming Kerry LEO Student Enterprise Awards which take place at IT Tralee in the new year.

The school assembled some ‘Dragons’ in the shape of Garda Aidan O’Mahony, Lisa O’Carroll of Kerry Local Enterprise Office, Juliette Harrington from AIB and Teresa Higgins Walker of Lee Strand to give advice on the projects.

Teachers Laura Boyle and Myra O’Connor organised the event and Laura explained the reasons behind it.

“The girls present their projects to the Dragons and their peers in dry run for the competition. They had to create an innovative product themselves and it has to be something new. Hopefully all of the groups will go on to the competition next year. They have to be trading their products in the next few weeks to be eligible to go on in the competition,” said Laura.

It was a very useful exercise for the students and no doubt they received the right feedback to develop their products further. Scroll down for photos…
