HE has presented programmes, voiced ads and trained many of the DJs you hear on Radio  Kerry every week, but John Herlihy has decided to move on after 20 years at the station.

Colleagues gathered at The Ashe Hotel on Friday night to say farewell to the Kilcummin native and wish him well in his new role as Course Recruitment Officer at Kerry ETB.

John started in Radio Kerry in 1998 on a part-time basis and became full-time in 2001. He did the breakfast show for three years, moving on in 2004 to head of programming.

He then moved into the training side of things through FÁS as it was known at the time. John developed a training course for radio skills based at the station and has been in charge of it ever since.

“I’m very excited about joining the team at Kerry ETB as they do some amazing work in the county,” said John.

“It’s very tough leaving Radio Kerry because the place is so unique. It’s the only place to work in radio in Kerry and I’ll always have a connection there, but I’m looking forward to the challenge,” said John, who is married to Aislinn with three children, Peter, Nathan and Jemma.

General Manager of Radio Kerry, Fiona Stack, paid tribute to John’s skills, dedication and professionalism and said he will be sorely missed at the station. All at Radio Kerry wished him well for the future. Scroll down for photos…
