THEY came from all corners of Ireland and far beyond to gather in the Austin Stack Clubhouse on Friday night for the St Brendan’s Park reunion.
It took months of organising, but it as worth the effort as hundreds packed into the Rock club over the course of the night for music, song and reminiscing about growing up in the old estate.
A Mass kicked off proceedings at 6pm followed by music, finger food and later, DJ Francie Breen got everyone on the dance floor.

“The attendance is amazing. It’s great to see the smiling faces on everybody, meeting old friends. Unreal is the only way of describing it,” said one of the organisers, Martina Ronan.
“Old and young, they’ve come from all over – Dublin, Donegal, Cork, England, America, everywhere,” added Martina.
The Lynches, Cliffords, Careys and many, many more families attended the celebration of the estate which has spawned many famous figures from sport, the arts and other fields as Gat Carey listed.
“Maurice O’Doherty, the RTE newsreader, Aengus Fanning of the Sunday Independent, his brother Rio the actor, Mikey Sheehy, Purty Landers, Jack Philips, one of the top surgeons in the country, the list goes on,” said Gat, who was attending the event with his nine siblings.
“It’s an unbelievable turnout. I actually met a guy tonight that I never knew lived in St Brendan’s Park – a Dr Brendan Mullins from Abbeyfeale. It’s a great idea to bring people together,” said Gat.
Indeed it was and no doubt many stories were told and friendships renewed over the course of the night.
