TraleeToday.ie’s coverage of the Rose of Tralee International Festival is brought to you by AIB Tralee…
THE weather may have spoilt things somewhat, but it certainly didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the Roses and escorts who smiled, danced and sang in the rain and wind last night.
The terrible weather ensured the crowds were down this year as the 65 Roses made their way to the stage on Denny Street, but there was plenty of entertainment for them to enjoy. There was music from many bands too, while the Absurdist Pipe Band, Granny Turismo, Officer O’Malley and Samba Cuisle warmed up the crowds before the Roses came.
They were soaked but the escorts acted with chivalry and gave them their jackets to alleviate the drowning.
Fireworks concluded the colourful display and the Roses were no doubt hoping for better weather on Sunday afternoon at 2pm for a repeat performance. Scroll down for photos of Roses and people enjoying the fun (we’ll have more later)…
