IT Tralee hosted two interesting and very well attended events at the weekend as part of the Kerry Science Festival.
Friday night saw the North Campus host a STEM Enterprise and Career Expo from 6pm-9pm which aimed to connect students, graduates and job seekers with STEM businesses and enterprise from across the County.
Those visiting had a chance to discuss a career in STEM in dedicated one to one sessions with career advisors, while Jonathan McCrea, host of ‘Futureproof’, Newstalk Radio, led a panel discussion on the future of STEM with entrepreneurs from industry and sport.

The panel included, Cora Creed from Universal Music NYC; James Murphy CEO Lifes2Good; and Anthony Maher, Kerry Footballer and Wyeth Nutritionals and everyone agreed it was a fascinating discussion.
Saturday saw hundreds of families converge on the college for a STEM Family Showcase day. There was loads to do for kids, from watching fun science experiments, robotics, sampling VR technology and, of course, face-painting and goodie bags.
“We’re covering the whole STEM area of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths here today through various exhibitions,” said IT Tralee Marketing and Enterprise Officer, Sarah Flaherty. “It’s applying science to everyday life. It’s showing kids how science can be incorporated into everything. We have companies from all over the county who work in the area of STEM exhibiting and trying to communicate to children how STEM can be applied to everyday life.” Scroll down for photos…
