ST John’s Parochial School on Ashe Street opened its doors on Saturday afternoon to show parents the school’s facilities and the great atmosphere that prevails at the school.

There was a steady stream of visitors all afternoon who were greeted by staff and pupils. They were given a tour of the two teacher school which has two classrooms teaching 43 pupils. There’s also a special education teacher and two classroom assistants.

Current pupils and their parents were also present to show the how tightly knit the community is in the school.

Acting Principal, Patricia Fitzell said it was important to show they are committed to helping all  potential junior infants to settle in to their new environment and answer any queries from parents on the day.
