THERE was a great turnout for a boxing event fundraiser at Tralee Sports Complex last night.
The IT Tralee Spark Society organised their ‘Rumble in the Jungle’, a collaboration with IT Tralees Boxing club in aid of Samaritans, pushing the message that nobody has a perfect mental health.
It was a white collar boxing event and the 10 participants involved were given free coaching and training to prepare for it.

“They’ve been training for the past 10 weeks and none of them boxed before. Some weren’t really into fitness before this,” said Conor O’Brien of the Spark Society. “They all just wanted to help out the Samaritans. There’s a mixture of north and south campus based students, doing different courses and two hail from Zimbabwe,” added Conor.
The Society is all about sparking the conversation on Mental Health. The society, which was founded by Co-Chairmen Conor O’Brien and Mike Edgar, holds weekly meetings, and also events for the community like comedy nights, brownie sales and panel discussions with mental health professionals.
