FOUR students from the IT Tralee have created a fascinating look at the 1916 Rising, featuring innovative technology and even a hologram of Padraig Pearse reading the Proclamation.
Noel Nash, Jenny Plunkett, Liam McElligott and Aine Brennan spent the past working on ‘Media Rising’ as part of their final year project in the Interactive Multimedia course at the ITT and it is now available to be viewed by the public.
The exhibition, which opened to the public on Thursday night and is running at the Kerry County Museum until September, brings the little known stories of the 1916 Rising to life using audio-visual displays.
Included is a radio broadcast aired by the volunteers of the Rising from the Dublin telegraphy and how the Proclamation was printed and the detail involved in that process. The students spent 100 hours making their own huge Proclamation with every letter traced to make it look as authentic as possible.
The centrepiece though is a hologram of Padraig Pearse reading the Proclamation. It’s an fresh, innovative and informative look at the 1916 Rising and is definitely worth a visit to the museum.
