AS we reported yesterday, the County Final of the Kerry County Council Annual Student Enterprise Awards was another huge success.
There were 60 mini-businesses set up by over 200 second level school students involved in the competition promoting business idea development, structure, sourcing of finance, marketing/sales and the presentation of a formal business plan.
Prizes were awarded at Junior, Intermediate and Senior level which went to Presentation Secondary School, Castleisland, Irish Codaithe Competition from Killorglin Community College and “RIP– BAR” from St. Joseph’s Secondary School, Ballybunion respectively.
Tralee schools featured among the prizes with Best Stand going to O-Pops from Presentation Tralee, the winner of special award was St. Ita’s and St. Joseph’s Tralee and Best Business Plan came from Roisin from Presentation Tralee.
CBS The Green students’ project OBG Covers came second in the senior category.
Tomás Hayes, Head of Local Enterprise stated that “the judges were highly impressed by the high standard of product, the level of innovation and the confidence of the students in presenting their proposal”.
Moira Murrell, Chief Executive of Kerry County Council said; “Kerry County Council is core to enterprise development in County Kerry and the Kerry Local Enterprise Office is now firmly embedded. I was delighted to be a part of the event today and it gives me great enthusiasm for the future of entrepreneurial development in County Kerry.”
