WHILE the weather on Saturday morning was a mixture of sunshine and heavy showers, it cleared up beautifully in Banna for the annual Christmas Day swim.
There was a steady stream of visitors to the beach from around 10am where they took a dip and made a donation to the Banna Sea Rescue.
But from around 12 noon, the car park began to fill up and a couple of hundred brave souls lined up for the 12.30pm dash into the water.

The sun shone as Santa Claus and Brian Crean of Banna Sea Rescue counted down the bathers and they made the long run into the sea.
Most of those who dashed into the ocean three times declared the water to be “lovely” and “refreshing”, so we’ll take their word for it!
There was no traditional gathering for refreshments afterwards due to COVID public health advice, but it was a safe way for the community to get together on the beach, have some fun and contribute to a good cause. Well done all. Scroll down for photos…
