CBS PRIMARY SCHOOL junior infants and their sixth class ‘buddies’ got to know each other a bit better over some healthy food at a ‘Teddy Bears Picnic’ in the school hall.
At CBS, a newly arrived infant class pupil is ‘buddied’ up with a sixth class boy or girl to make their transition a little bit easier.
Both were getting along harmoniously at the teddy bears picnic held as part of the school’s ‘Healthy Eating Week’.
“We kickstart the year with a ‘Healthy Eating Week’ to encourage the children to make healthier choices,” said teacher and Social Personal Health Education coordinator, Patricia Sharpe.
Kids got their hands on making smoothies, fruit kebabs and soup in their classrooms as part of the healthy living initiative.
“For the junior infants we have a teddy bears picnic and get their sixth class buddies to come down, so it’s a nice way to introduce the junior infants to the school,” said Ms Sharpe.
“We want to introduce the children to different kinds of food and we hope to encourage them as the year goes on,” she added. Scroll down for photos…
